Who will sit on the town centre taskforce?
The membership and Terms of Reference of the Town Centres Taskforce are currently being finalised. Subject to final agreement, I intend to announce the Chair of the Taskforce in early August. The Taskforce members will be drawn from a diversity of sectors, geographies and backgrounds to provide practical actions to support high streets, including barriers related to business rates, planning and town centre living.
Officials aim for the Taskforce to initially meet with the Chair and Ministers in August, with the first formal session taking place in September. The Taskforce will operate as a time-limited task and finish group, meeting regularly throughout autumn 2026 and concluding with a final report and recommendations to Ministers in early 2027.
