What assurance can the Welsh Government provide that national clinical leadership to improve musculoskeletal (MSK) health and services will be provided after the current NHSPI internal review concludes, including for MSK conditions primarily managed in primary care such as osteoarthritis?

As I set out in my response to WQ99680, national clinical leadership arrangements for musculoskeletal (MSK) health are an operational matter for NHS Wales Performance and Improvement.

I understand NHS Wales Performance and Improvement is currently reviewing future national clinical leadership arrangements in this area and others. As that work is ongoing, I am unable to comment on future arrangements at this stage.

In the meantime, the National MSK Strategic Clinical Network continues to support improvements in services across primary, community and secondary care, including for people living with osteoarthritis and other MSK conditions. This includes the development of an all-Wales integrated service specification.
