What steps is the Welsh Government taking to ensure that women's health hubs are adequately funded and staffed?

Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Equality | Answered on 16/07/2026

As part of the implementation of the Women’s Health Plan for Wales, the Welsh Government made non-recurrent funding available during 2025-26 to support all health boards to deliver against key priorities that improve access to women's health services. Three priority areas were determined for the initial phase of the hubs: menstrual health, contraception and menopause.

From the outset, health boards were advised that this funding was time-limited and that proposals for longer-term service delivery would need to be considered through local planning arrangements.

Further non-recurrent funding is available for 2026-27. Health boards were invited to submit proposals setting out how they plan to consolidate their existing hub model, including expansion and pump-priming to prepare for the inclusion of additional services. These proposals are currently being considered, and decisions will be communicated directly to health boards in due course.
