Will the Cabinet Minister be meeting with bereaved parents campaigning to save babies’ lives to discuss setting targets to reduce stillbirths and neonatal deaths?

Answered by Cabinet Minister for Health and Care | Answered on 11/06/2026

The Welsh Government recognises the devastating impact of losing a baby at any stage of pregnancy. Improving outcomes for babies and reducing stillbirths and neonatal deaths remains a key priority. We are committed to driving continuous improvement in the safety and quality of maternity and neonatal services across Wales.

This Government has committed to developing and strengthening Wales’s National Bereavement Care Pathway, while promoting best practice in supporting parents and families affected by baby loss.

Listening to the voices of bereaved parents is essential. My officials are engaging with Sands on relevant areas of policy and will continue to work collaboratively with families, clinicians, and service leaders to improve outcomes for all babies and families in Wales.
