Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm the TACP budget for 2026-27, and how does this compare with what it was for the previous three financial years?
As part of my Oral Statement on 3 February 2026, I announced an indicative budget of £50 million for the Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP) for 2026–27. Experience to date has demonstrated that, to maximise delivery, the sector benefits from as much advance notice as possible to prepare. This early announcement, which is the minimum level of funding available, provides clarity and reassurance, enabling partners to develop and submit schemes in line with the established timescales of this year’s programme.
Over the first three years of the programme nearly £275 million has been invested through TACP.
- 2002-23 - £76.4m
- 2003-24 - £87.2m
- 2024-25 - £111m
This has supported the delivery of over 2,700 high-quality homes, including the refurbishment and reactivation of more than 930 void properties.
In the current financial year (2025–26), £155 million has been allocated to TACP. Current projections indicate that this investment will deliver over 1,000 additional homes, including bringing more than 180 void properties back into use.
