Will the Cabinet Secretary commit to delivering ‘a programme of investment specifically for secondary ophthalmology services which mirrors the scale and sustainability of the investment made in primary care optometry’, as has been recommended by the Health and Social Care Committee’s November 2025 report following its inquiry into ophthalmology services?
I have already set out a detailed response to the Health and Social Care Committee regarding its recommendations on secondary ophthalmology services, including investment considerations. This response has been formally submitted to the Committee, which will now review and debate the Welsh Government’s position as part of its ongoing scrutiny.
Given that the matter is currently before the Committee, it would not be appropriate to provide additional commentary through a Written Question. I will continue to work with the Committee through the established scrutiny processes.
