What steps is the Cabinet Secretary taking to ensure adequate staffing levels in the NHS to prepare for winter 2026?

Health boards and trusts in Wales are responsible for ensuring they have safe and sustainable staffing arrangements in place throughout the year, including plans to manage the additional pressures associated with winter.
The Welsh Government, NHS Wales Shared Services Partnership and Health Education and Improvement Wales continue to support organisations to ensure they have the workforce capacity needed throughout the winter. This includes sustained investment in workforce supply, support for international recruitment where appropriate, and actions to improve staff retention.
