What progress has been made towards the Government's target of 580,000 heat pumps to be installed by 2035?
The total number of Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) accredited heat pump installations in Wales, as of 14 January 2026, is 30,695. Of these, 947 are in commercial and non-domestic buildings, 26,916 are in domestic buildings and there are 2,832 that are listed as unspecified.
Since the publication of the Heat Strategy in July 2024, the number of accredited heat pump installations in Wales has risen by just over 10,000. This shows that we recognise the steps that need to be taken, and we are working to ensure that we meet the target of 580,000 by 2035.
