What consideration has the Welsh Government given to reducing the age for prostate cancer screenings?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 09/12/2025

The Welsh Government follows the advice of the UK National Screening Committee (UK NSC) which does not currently recommend population-wide screening for prostate cancer.

The UK NSC is currently consulting on a targeted prostate cancer screening programme for men with BRCA variants every two years, from the age of 45 to age 61.
