How is the Welsh Government working to reduce inequalities in vaccination uptake between Flying Start and non Flying Start areas?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 04/12/2025

Equitable access to vaccination is a key priority, which underpins every aspect of our National Immunisation Framework for Wales. This Framework sets out our commitment to ensure everyone who is eligible for a vaccination is offered one in an accessible way, via person-centred, community level provision.

The National Immunisation Framework also sets out the requirement for robust communications using clear, trusted, and reliable information. Health board communications strategies should be informed by insights and reflect the views of underserved communities, so individuals can make an informed decision about vaccinations for themselves and those in their care.

The accessibility of vaccination services is the responsibility of health boards, who have developed local plans for the populations they serve. Each health board is developing a vaccination equity strategy and programme of work to address, reduce, and ultimately eliminate, vaccination inequity in their communities.
