Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm why Transport for Wales is withdrawing the JourneyCheck email alert service from January 2026, and what alternatives are available for passengers not able to use the mobile app for updates?

The JourneyCheck Alert service is only available in English. As such it does not meet the Welsh Language Standards required by law, so Transport for Wales are developing alternative provision. The alternative service will use Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger and will be called Journey Alerts. This will be available for passengers in both Welsh and English and can deliver real time updates for both train and bus services. Before the new Journey Alerts system is launched, or for those passengers unable to use the Transport for Wales application, or Whatsapp or Facebook messenger, up to date information on journeys will continue to be available via telephone, or with station and on-board staff.
