How many secure stopover places are there for freight operators in Wales, and how many have been created since 2014?
Truck stops are commercially run business, and an important part of how the sector operates daily. We are aware of the need to improve roadside facilities, driver welfare facilities, safer and secure facilities, more parking capacity, and charging infrastructure across the UK. As part of the freight and logistics, port and maritime plan, we have committed to commissioning an independent report to map out existing truck stop facilities across Wales which includes secure stop over places. It will include more in-depth industry data analysis, map our current roadside facilities and frequently used HGV parking locations and include data on where freight is starting and ending its journey. We are in the process of scoping this work and can provide further update in due course.
