What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the impact of delayed changes to the three-meter rule for air source heat pumps on residents living in terrace housing?
Welsh Government is committed to improving energy efficiency and reducing the carbon emissions of homes. ASHPs are expected to become one of the main sources of domestic heating technology, as Wales and the UK, seek to transition away from fossil fuels to low carbon and net zero alternatives.
We recently held a consultation on proposed changes to permitted development rights, which closed on 1 July and included a proposal to remove the three-metre rule in Wales. We received 176 responses in total to the consultation.
In accordance with the Gunning Principles regarding consultation it is important to ensure that appropriate consideration is given to all the comments received to the consultation document. Officials are currently preparing the Government Response.
I anticipate the Government Response will be published later in the Autumn and there is no delay.
