What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the impact on businesses of water pollution incidents during the summer holidays?

Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 30/09/2025

No formal assessment has been carried out on the impact of water pollution incidents on businesses during the summer holidays.

However, the Welsh Government recognises the pressures these incidents can place on coastal communities, particularly those reliant on tourism. While there isn’t a targeted support scheme for seaside businesses affected by bathing water advisories, wider funding is available through programmes such as Brilliant Basics and Transforming Towns. These initiatives aim to strengthen local economies, support business resilience, and enhance the overall visitor experience in coastal areas.
