Will the Cabinet Secretary make a statement on the pause in housebuilding in Pembrokeshire due to the Marine Special Areas of Conservation?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 30/09/2025

Whilst a range of housebuilding is continuing in Pembrokeshire, resolving the current impact on future developments is a top priority and the Welsh Government is working urgently with Natural Resources Wales (NRW), Local Planning Authorities (LPAs), Dŵr Cymru and other stakeholders to address issues.

Collective action is required to enable us to balance the need for sustainable development with the need to bring our river and marine environment back to full health.

An additional £420k has been awarded to NRW to take forward a programme of work developing advice and guidance to those LPAs assessing new developments in the impacted areas.
