Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm how many students have been excluded from school since 2014, broken down by year and age group?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education | Answered on 22/09/2025

This information is in the two tables below and is taken from the Pupil Level Annual School Census (PLASC). Only exclusions from mainstream schools are included. The data includes both permanent and fixed-term exclusions. Data for 2023/24 is not yet available.

Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, schools were closed to some or all pupils in both the summer term 2019/20 and the spring term 2020/21. This impacts on the number of exclusions in both of these academic years.
