What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the adequacy of the Welsh Government's and Dŵr Cymru's response to the second large water mains burst of 2025 which occurred on 3 August 2025?

Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 04/09/2025

I met with Dŵr Cymru on 19 August and I was pleased that learning from the Conwy incident in January had been applied in the response in Flintshire. I welcome that Dŵr Cymru and response partners will also be reflecting on this most recent incident, to identify what worked well and any further areas that need to be addressed. The Drinking Water Inspectorate is the regulator which oversees water companies’ preparedness and response to incidents of this kind, and I look forward to seeing their conclusions following their review.
