Will the Cabinet Secretary provide the cost analysis behind the estimates of £56 million being allocated to Taith by 2028, as outlined in Plenary on 3 June 2025?
To date, a total of £46.3 million has been allocated to Taith from 2020-21 up to and including 2025-26. As Taith is a demand-led programme, actual expenditure depends on uptake levels, which were lower than anticipated in 2022-23 and 2023-24. This has resulted in the amount awarded being less than the allocation in those years.
The estimated allocation of £56 million by 2028 is based on maintaining current funding levels in future years. For 2027-28, a reduced allocation is anticipated, reflecting the expectation that all mobilities must conclude by September 2027. Budgets are subject to ongoing review and adjustment in line with programme demand and delivery.
