What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with the UK Government regarding correcting incorrect valuations of business properties in Wales?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Welsh Language | Answered on 14/07/2025

The Valuation Office Agency (VOA) is the statutory body responsible for carrying out valuations of all properties in Wales for local tax purposes. It is an executive agency of HMRC and is independent of the Welsh Government. Ratepayers can check and ask the VOA to reconsider their valuation if they believe it is incorrect. If agreement cannot be reached, there is a free right of appeal to the independent Valuation Tribunal for Wales.
