How is the Welsh Government supporting local community arranged events in light of the increased cost of putting these events on?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Trefnydd and Chief Whip | Answered on 19/05/2025

We recognise the importance of community events. That is why, in 2025-26, local authorities will receive over £6.1 billion from the Welsh Government in core revenue funding and non-domestic rates to spend on delivering key services. This funding is unhypothecated and can be used on local priorities including supporting community events.

Where applicable, community and town councils may support community events through providing funding – such as from the precept, fundraising or grants – and providing administrative support. They are well-placed to partner with local community organisations and principal council to support the efficient and effective management of community events.
