Will the Cabinet Secretary outline how the group led by NHS Wales Employers is developing a framework for the safe and effective deployment of anaesthesia associates in Wales?
The tripartite group established by NHS Employers includes Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW), the British Medical Association (BMA), and the Welsh Government.
The group has been tasked with developing a framework for the safe and effective deployment of medical associates in Wales. This will include issues such as governance arrangements and specifically the safety of the roles and their contribution to multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
It will also involve collaboration with stakeholders in Wales and across the UK to review the findings of the Leng Review to address any issues and concerns raised.
The independent review of Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates is planned to be published at the end of June 2025.
