How will the Welsh Government monitor the impact of the new all-Wales practice guide on improving the identification of child sexual abuse, as set out in its response to the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse?
The All Wales Practice Guide: Safeguarding Children from Sexual Exploitation was updated following the investigation completed by the Independent Inquiry into network-based sexual exploitation.
A further review is scheduled for this year, and officials are collaborating with key partners, including the Wales Safeguarding Procedures Project Board, as part of their work on other All Wales Practice Guides, such as the guide concerning children who are reported missing from home or care.
Implementation of the Practice Guides is achieved via Regional Safeguarding Boards who have responsibility for the effectiveness of safeguarding practice in their respective areas.
Welsh Government provide funding to the Procedures Project Board each year to develop and oversee implementation of the Procedures and associated Practice Guides. Welsh Government officials who lead on safeguarding children and adults are members of the Procedures Project Board.
