What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with the UK Government about the electrification of the North Wales mainline?
I have regular discussions with the UK Government regarding rail infrastructure enhancements in Wales. Our immediate priority for North Wales is to deliver the recommendations of the North Wales Transport Commission, a position endorsed by the UK Government.
We remain supportive of proposals to electrify the North Wales Main Line, though there are a number of enhancements that need to be made to the line to enable improved and increased services on the line prior to electrification. We continue to work closely with the UK Government to develop our priorities for rail infrastructure enhancements in Wales.
