What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with Visit Wales about promoting the unique selling points of tourism destinations such as Llandudno?
I am in regular close contact with Visit Wales as they form part of my Economy portfolio. I recognise that north Wales has many unique destinations and I have been pleased to see north Wales locations in the current Hwyl marketing campaign, which focuses on promoting the unique experiences and destinations that you can only visit in Wales. North Wales also features heavily on Visit Wales’ website and in their social media and work with the travel trade.
Llandudno is a key location featured in the recent Visit Wales film published to promote cycling, following the announcement that the Tour de France will be coming to Wales in 2027. The Great Orme is heavily featured in the film and marketing material, which highlights the best locations across Wales for cyclists.
Llandudno is an important location for tour operator programmes and features throughout Visit Wales’ Travel Trade marketing. Visit Wales is working with the Road Haulage Association on their National Coach Week in May 2025 with Llandudno the focus to highlight the role coaches play, their contribution to the wider economy, and the excellent facilities for passengers and coaches that the town boasts.
