Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm the total expenditure from the Ynni Cymru funding that has been invested in Carmarthenshire, together with an analysis per project including the amount given and a summary of the project details?

One project in Carmarthenshire was awarded funding from the Ynni Cymru Capital Grant Fund in 2024-25.

Kidwelly Town Community Hall was awarded £48,510 to deliver a Smart Local Energy System (SLES). The SLES involves a solar PV system and batteries, and the project is due to be completed on 14 March 2025.

In addition to the environmental benefits that the SLES will deliver, the centre is a charitable not-for-profit organisation and by lowering running costs Ynni Cymru’s investment will secure the future of the centre and the community activities it supports. The hall is used by a range of organisations including the Welsh Blood Service, local schools, and the local food bank, which means that the project will deliver considerable socio-economic benefits across the local community.

The capital grant programme was open to community energy organisations and groups, public sector bodies, and small and medium sized (SMEs) businesses operating in Wales. Funding was allocated on a competitive basis based on criteria of deliverability, strategic alignment, wider benefits and cost.
