What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with Cardiff and Vale University Health Board and other health boards about additional support to help reduce the waiting times for urgent urology referrals which can be as long as 120 weeks?

Reduction of long waits is a Welsh Government priority. I provided an additional £50m to increase capacity to cut waiting times in November 2024, in line with health board plans. I have been clear with all health boards I expect to see continued improvement across all specialities by the end of March 2025.

Since April 2022, two-year urology waits for treatment have reduced by 67% and by 29% for one-year outpatient waits across Wales. In Cardiff and Vale University Health Board, there has been a 20% reduction in two-year waits and a 49% fall in one-year outpatient waits for the same period.
