What assessment has the Cabinet Secretary made of the current and future provision of maths degree programmes in Wales in light of Cardiff University’s decision to cut the number of maths teaching staff?
Maths degree programmes are available to learners throughout Wales. The Welsh Government is committed to supporting the higher education sector - an extra £18.5m has recently been announced and allocated to Medr to support universities, which is on top of an extra £10m of grant funding already provided in year.
Medr are undertaking an overview of subject demand, provision, and distribution in higher education in Wales, and to consider where interventions might be required to ensure the continuation of strategically important subject areas.
