How many independent providers of social care in Wales have signed up to the models of best practice that underpin the social care workforce partnership work of the fair work forum?
I am proud that the Partnership is the first of its kind in the UK, bringing together government, employers, and unions to work in social partnership. Our longer-term ambition is for the agreed models to be adopted for all staff within scope and create more consistent terms and conditions across the social care sector in Wales.
We are early stages of developing models of best practice. Our initial engagement with the independent providers has been to determine what was important to them and what policies they felt the Social Care Workforce Partnership should prioritise.
The best practice models are still in development; hence we are not at a stage of sign up. We intend to engage further with both providers and the workforce whilst these policies are being developed, to ensure they are meeting their needs.
