Will the Cabinet Secretary publish all materials that have been distributed to schools in Wales to promote the Welsh Government's Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Education | Answered on 21/01/2025

The Welsh Government is committed to creating a truly anti-racist Wales by 2030. Our Anti-Racist Wales Action Plan, launched in June 2022 and refreshed in November 2024, is built on the values of anti-racism and calls for zero tolerance of all racial inequality.

Wales is leading the way by becoming the first part of the UK to make it mandatory to teach Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic histories and experiences in the new Curriculum for Wales. The roll out to primary schools began in September 2022.

Schools in Wales can design and develop their own curriculum to meet the needs of their learners, this includes recognising and celebrating the diverse nature of social groups and communities. Schools can choose how they reflect diversity and their response to the experiences of those groups and communities.

Our Hwb platform provides pupils, parents and schools with a range of published resources to support diversity in the curriculum.  This includes information on how schools can contribute towards an anti-racist Wales.
