What discussions has the Welsh Government had with Scottish Power and the National Grid about the challenges being encountered in reconnecting houses to the grid following Storm Darragh?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning | Answered on 11/12/2024

As part of our national emergency response, the Welsh Government has been liaising closely with Scottish Power Energy Networks (SPEN) and National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED) during the response to storm Darragh, including via the Strategic Coordination Groups which were stood up last weekend in each of the four Local Resilience Forum regions: Dyfed Powys, Gwent, North Wales and South Wales.

I have met with the President of Electricity Distribution of National Grid to discuss the challenges in reconnecting their customers. The Cabinet Secretary for Transport and North Wales met with SPEN, and I am also due to meet their Chief Executive.
