Further to WQ94790, does the Welsh Government consider that a wider deployment of combined cataract and glaucoma procedures will improve patient outcomes and reduce ophthalmic waiting lists?

As I indicated in my previous response, combined glaucoma and cataract operations are a clinical decision based on patient need. Combined procedures have been carried out by glaucoma surgeons for several years across Wales.
Where clinically appropriate, I expect the potential for wider deployment to form part of the implementation of the National Ophthalmology Strategy, National Clinical Strategy for Ophthalmology - NHS Wales Executive.
