Is the existing budget available for flood prevention schemes in Wales sufficient to protect homes and businesses?
Answered by Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs | Answered on 05/12/2024
This year, despite immense pressure on the public purse, Welsh Government has maintained record levels of funding and provided more than £75 million to flood Risk Management authorities across Wales which is intended to reduce the risk to homes and businesses. Approximately 102,000 properties already benefit from our network of flood defences in Wales with over £300m invested under our annual flood programme this Senedd term.
