Will the Cabinet Secretary set out the Welsh Government's case for housing developers to build homes in Wales?
Housing developers have a crucial role to play in meeting housing needs in Wales. As well as delivering mixed sustainable communities, market housing developments make a significant contribution to the delivery of affordable housing through section 106 developer obligations.
In Wales, we offer a range of schemes to support housing developers including the Help to Buy scheme. The scheme has supported more than 14,000 households into home ownership, and it is an important source of support for the house building industry and associated supply chains. More than 50 builders, large and small, are signed up to the current phase of the scheme.
Since 2013, Welsh Government has also been supporting SME home builders with access to affordable development finance. Our Wales Property Development and Wales Stalled Sites Funds have a combined budget of £127m.
