Will the Cabinet Secretary outline the support available to both social and private landlords to deliver energy efficient properties?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 25/11/2024

Our Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023 establishes standards for improving the quality of social homes to provide warm, comfortable homes that are energy efficient, allowing affordable heat and minimising environmental impact. Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023 | GOV.WALES.

Capital grants are provided to all social landlords to support the upgrading of existing homes to meet the standard, which will allow landlords to make the properties more energy efficient. £200 million has been made available in 2024-25 to aid landlords in meeting the standard.

Our Warm Homes Nest scheme is investing £30 million this financial year on energy efficiency and low carbon heating upgrades for low-income households living in private rented accommodation.

Social and private landlords can also access the Energy Company Obligations scheme, a supplier obligation scheme administered by Ofgem, which operates in Wales, England and Scotland.
