How much has the Welsh Government spent on legal advice for the UK COVID inquiry, broken down by minister and year?

Answered by Counsel General and Minister for Delivery  | Answered on 25/11/2024

Expenditure on specialist external legal advice, across all Modules of the UK Covid-19 Public Inquiry, by financial year, is as follows:

2021/22 - £25,080

2022/23 - £947,685

2023/24 - £2,240,290

2024/25 - £489,154.44 (to end of October)

The legal advisers in question support all Welsh Government witnesses at both Ministerial and official level and accordingly it is not possible to disaggregate these costs to provide figures on an individual witness basis.
