How will the Welsh Government improve data collection in the Welsh NHS regarding miscarriages during the remainder of this Senedd?

The Welsh Government does not collect or hold data on miscarriages. Data on miscarriages is also not collected centrally for the UK.
The Patient Episode Database Wales (PEDW) held by Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) codes activity in hospitals by principal diagnosis and by principal procedure. This will contain the instances where women have been admitted to hospital due to a miscarriage but will not capture cases where women have miscarried and not been admitted to a hospital or received outpatient care.
