How is the Welsh Government involving community groups in its current review of approaches to delivering infrastructure projects?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Energy and Planning | Answered on 15/11/2024

The Infrastructure (Wales) Act 2024 will set the framework for consenting infrastructure projects on land and in the territorial sea. This was subject to scrutiny by Senedd Cymru between 12 June 2023 and 16 April 2024. During this time, we commissioned Planning Aid Wales to consider opportunities to enhance community engagement in the system.

Two ‘call for evidence’ consultations were undertaken between 13 May and 22 July, including one on the requirements for pre-application consultation. Following this the consultation on the whole process was launched on 19 September and closes on 13 December. As part of this consultation, we are holding an event where representatives from the community have been invited.
