What is being done to mitigate any disparities that arise between councils where one has implemented a visitor levy and the other has not, such as over-concentration of tourism or councils not implementing a visitor levy to out compete other councils?
The purpose of the visitor levy is to enable visitors to contribute to the costs of tourism and to create a more sustainable future for tourism in Wales. Local authorities will decide whether to introduce a levy or not. Before a local authority decides to implement the levy, local impacts would be considered, which will include consulting with local communities and considering the impact that implementing the visitor levy would have on neighbouring local authorities.
A regulatory impact assessment will accompany the legislative proposals when introduced on the 25th November.
