How is the Welsh Government working to expand intensive care bed availability for post-operative care in North Wales?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care | Answered on 19/11/2024

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board is responsible for the planning of critical care capacity to meet the needs of its population in line with clinical guidelines and pandemic response requirements. The Welsh Government has supported all health boards in Wales to develop and make best use of their critical care capacity. This includes an additional and recurrent £2.625m for the health board from 2019 to improve critical care services. This has been used to improve and make better use of available capacity, including the introduction of post-operative enhanced care and critical care advice and support for ward-based care.
