Health boards are responsible for the planning and delivery of primary medical services to its local population, this includes the management of contracts for primary care services.
Earlier this year Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, through an open tender process, awarded contracts for GMS services at practices that had been managed by the health board for some time.
I expect the health board, as part of the contract awarding process, to have carried out a thorough process of due diligence and to be monitoring the provision of services through established procedures.
