Does the Cabinet Secretary anticipate that emergency temporary accommodation will need to be used this winter, in light of the number of people in temporary accommodation reaching 11,384 in July?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 29/10/2024

Welsh Government continues to work closely with all local authorities, to ensure the provision of appropriate homelessness prevention and relief measures all year round, in line with their statutory obligations under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014.

We are investing almost £220m this year alone in homelessness prevention and housing support services to help reduce the flow of people needing temporary accommodation. We are also supporting local authorities with move-on from temporary accommodation and have opened the Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme for 2024-25 with an indicative value of £100m.
