What is the Welsh Government doing to ensure social housing is free of mould and damp problems in Pembrokeshire?

Answered by Cabinet Secretary for Housing and Local Government | Answered on 29/10/2024

The Welsh Housing Quality Standard 2023 (WHQS 2023) sets the standards for the quality of social homes across Wales and must be met by all social landlords, including those operating in Pembrokeshire. It is a tenant focused standard and it includes a requirement, continued from the previous WHQS standard, for all homes to be free from damp and mould. This acknowledges the threats to health, mental health and social wellbeing which may be caused by living in such conditions.

Compliance with the standard will be first reported in Summer 2025 and WHQS compliance reporting will continue to improve the transparency and accountability of social landlords. We will also shortly be consulting on a proposal to embed performance standards for social landlords’ response to reports of hazards, which have potentially serious health consequences, into the WHQS 2023.
