Will the Cabinet Secretary make a statement on how many flu vaccines went to waste in Wales in the 2023-24 financial year?

We do not hold figures for flu vaccine wastage for 2023-24. In 2023-24 as in the current year, adult flu vaccine was directly procured by primary care contractors who were subsequently reimbursed for the cost of the vaccines administered. Contractors were not required to report the volume of vaccine procured but not used.
With effect from autumn 2025 adult flu vaccine will be centrally procured in Wales. One of the benefits of this change will be improved ability to monitor and reduce waste.
