What is the extent of the Welsh Government’s involvement with Denbighshire County Council’s plans to decarbonise its energy system?
The Welsh Government has supported all local areas, including Denbighshire, to develop local area energy plans. This support has been provided in partnership with the Welsh Government Energy Service.
Staff from the service have attended workshops during plan development, co-chair the Regional Steering Group, and chair a quarterly all-Wales Local Area Energy Plan Forum on which Welsh Government also sits.
The Welsh Government has also funded three staff in North Wales until 2025 to lead regional energy planning and the delivery of their Local Area Energy Plans. Denbighshire’s Plan was endorsed by its cabinet on 24th September.
