Further to WQ93807, what response was received from the new Secretary of State for Energy, Security and Net Zero, and what support can energy suppliers offer their customers who are struggling to pay their bills?
The Secretary of State for Energy, Security and Net Zero confirmed the UK Government is committed to supporting consumers with their energy bills. Support will continue to be delivered to eligible low-income households through the Warm Home Discount, which provides a £150 rebate off energy bills each year.
I met with the Minister for Energy Consumers on 10 October to discuss a range of topics to develop a permanent, effective form of protection for households in need. I look forward to working closely with her to develop solutions for struggling households.
I met with energy suppliers on 3 October to discuss the support they offer vulnerable customers and have encouraged them to communicate this support with their customers.
