Will the Cabinet Secretary confirm when the modernisation and upgrade to the safety barriers on the M48 between Rogiet and Chepstow will be taking place and the temporary 50mph speed limit removed?

The design for replacement of the road restraint system on the M48 is included in this financial year 2024 / 2025. The upgrade to the safety barriers will take place in future years. However, with limited budgets difficult decisions are needed to ensure investment is directed where it will provide the most impact. The scheme will be prioritised along with other schemes across the trunk road network. Once the work has taken place the temporary speed limit will be removed.
