Using the latest outturn statistics for Welsh income tax, in 2022-23 there were approximately 1,492,500 people liable for the Welsh rates of income tax.
Over the last 3 years for which outturn is available - 2020-21, 2021-22, and 2022-23 - Welsh taxpayers paid £4.9bn, £5.5bn, and £6.1bn in non-savings non-dividend income tax. Within those totals, the Welsh rates of income tax accounted for £2.1bn, £2.4bn, and £2.6bn.
