Will the Cabinet Secretary provide an update on the progress that has been made regarding the development of the whole-government health impact assessments for new policy?
Health Impact Assessments offer a flexible but systematic and structured way to ensure that health impacts are considered as part of decision making and planning processes.
A consultation on the draft regulations to mandate the use of Health Impact Assessments by specified public bodies in certain circumstances closed on 29th March 2024. Workshops have also been held during September with relevant stakeholders, and we plan to publish the summary of consultation responses in December.
We are intending to lay the draft regulations before the Senedd in Spring 2025.
