Will the Cabinet Secretary detail the reasons for the Welsh Government's acceptance of the UK Government's offer to cooperate cross-border on the NHS, in the context of a similar arrangement not being accepted when the previous UK Government proposed it last year?
Every day, people from England are treated in NHS Wales, and people from Wales are treated in NHS England. Health boards in Wales have been cooperating with their counterparts in NHS England for many years, and continue to do so.
The new partnership recently mentioned by the First Minister of Wales and the Secretary of State for Wales in the UK Government, harnesses the power of the two governments working together. It will encourage good ideas and good practice to be shared between the two governments, and between the NHS in England and Wales, to improve patient care and outcomes.
