What discussions has the Cabinet Secretary had with the UK Minister for Pensions regarding the former Allied Steel and Wire pension scheme, the Financial Assistance Scheme and the continuing impact of pre-1997 indexation?

I recently met with ASW pensions campaigners to hear their concerns first hand. Whilst it is clear that without the financial assistance scheme these pensioners would have lost their pensions completely, the lack of inflation indexing has significantly eroded the value of these payments over time. It is understandable and right that they should want the value of their contributions to be paid in full. I have written to the UK Pensions Minister on this issue.
